According to a recent interview (below) done by Ray Barrie, Joe didn&#8217;t form this band but joined it. It was originally called <b>Saffron<\/b>. They began to write their own material in the last 6 months of the band&#8217;s existence. They aimed at a Blood Sweat and Tears sound.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-family: arial\"><\/p>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-family: arial\"><\/p>\n<div><span>The line up was T<b>ed Arnold<\/b> guitar &#8211; <b>Noel Wood<\/b> vocals &#8211; <b>Jim Lang<\/b> Sax &#8211; <b>Joe Reynolds<\/b> Sax &#8211; <b>George Stevens<\/b> on drums and they went through three bass players.<b> Mick Broadhurst<\/b> may have been their manager.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<div>\n<b><b><span><br \/><\/span><\/b><\/b><\/div>\n<p><b><br \/>\n<\/b><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-cxDcKTzo1hI\/W35_E7cL6iI\/AAAAAAAAG1A\/eeMcy9knAT0UiNAhsbMT6eVwZlw564TggCEwYBhgL\/s1600\/Hobo001.jpg\" style=\"clear: right;float: right;margin-bottom: 1em;margin-left: 1em\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"1600\" data-original-width=\"1158\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-cxDcKTzo1hI\/W35_E7cL6iI\/AAAAAAAAG1A\/eeMcy9knAT0UiNAhsbMT6eVwZlw564TggCEwYBhgL\/s640\/Hobo001.jpg\" width=\"460\" \/><\/a><span><span style=\"font-family: arial\">Joe Reynolds started off as road with The Chris Jones Aggression as roadie and also played harmonica with them on occasions. Joe was also a poet, played flute and sax and later, in 1979, played sax on <b>The Selecter<\/b> tracks recorded at Coventry&#8217;s Horizon studio &#8211; at least on Three Minute Hero. Joe also worked with <b>A Band Called George<\/b> in 1974. They played mainly funk\/soul covers and the only Coventry gig was at the City Centre Club.  After his dep work with <b>The Selecter<\/b>, Joe played on records by the VIPs, a Warwick Uni band and <b>Seagulls,<\/b> a local pub\/club band among others. <\/p>\n<p>Later he joined a soul \/ reggae band called <b>Stax<\/b> and played a lot in Coventry at venues like the <i>Hope and Anchor<\/i> in Whitefriars Street and the Commonwealth Club near the railway bridge in Lockhurst Lane, Holbrook and a residency at the Jubilee Pub at the end of the Stoney Stanton Road. <\/p>\n<p>They also played regularly at <i>La Chaumiere<\/i> in The Burges and the <i>Dog and Trumpet<\/i> in the city centre.  Stax lasted about two years, <b>Carol Lloyd<\/b>, the singer, left and was replaced by <b>Ray King<\/b> and <b>Desmond Brown<\/b> from <b>Selecter<\/b> joined later.
