Joe Reynolds<\/strong> was a Poet, saxophonist \/flautist and songwriter of the Coventry Jazz \/ Rock band <\/span>Willow<\/strong> c 1973 \/4 and who, in 1979 \/80, sessioned on Sax with Two Tone<\/i> band Selecter<\/b>.  Joe also joined a reformed version of A Band Called George<\/b> (who had made the single NCB Man<\/i> for the Bell label<\/i>) in 1974. Earlier, in 1970,  he had sessioned with the Chris Jones <\/b><\/span>Aggression<\/b>.<\/span>

\nHis early band – Willow<\/a> (A Coventry jazz \/ Rock outfit) <\/b> advertised regularly in HOBO<\/b>. Joe was also in various other bands along the way.  <\/span><\/p>\n

\nBut back in 1974 Joe contributed some of his poems for my Communications books<\/i>.  Before Hobo<\/b> started i carried manuscript books inviting people I met to contribute poems, lyrics, graphs or thoughts – anything creative. Here are some of Joe’s poems –<\/span><\/div>\n

Reflected spectrum on dew damp pane
\nTechnicolour morning
\nWisp away the sandman\u2019s dust
\nSpraying wind to chill my face
\nSquealing seagulls whip the sky
\nFingering foam claws the beach
\nOver the rock pool rapids.<\/p>\n

Sandy lightening lizards
\nMoss covered rock wall walks
\nSpitting forks the bluebottle\u2019s death
\nSleepy venom adder
\nKing of the anthill.<\/p>\n

Red flamed circle kissed the crest
\nRippling arrowheads across the waves
\nCaptured second forgotten dusk
\nFrom the reaching cliffs echo
\nCricket singing serenade the night
\nTomorrow\u2019s dawn will wake you.<\/div>\n

Behind the spot light
\nthat shows
\nwhat\u2019s for us
\nI find after looking, my truths <\/div>\n

\nfolding themselves up.
\nTo look small
\nand hiding behind each other
\nand towards the sides
\nof that light.
\nThe countless confusions
\nstruggling to find themselves
\nthrough the mist
\nthat limps above them.<\/div>\n

Through the alleys,
\nNight lights
\nStrike the slabs
\nAnd pierce the road
\nShe walks ever watchful,
\nDreaming
\nOf her non existing love
\nAs profit
\nRings the strings of her heart
\nGuilt and pride
\nBeneath her powder
\nAsking for her wage
\nHer mind all ablaze with dreams
\nAs home she takes him
\nPretence of not caring
\nParrot fashion so straight
\nAnd upstairs
\nHer room<\/div>\n

\nHer cold room
\nNakedness in routine
\nThat he must not see
\nA powder tear
\nAs all her dreams
\nOf silk and bells
\nAnd old friends drive her forward.<\/p>\n

And he unsuspecting
\nHe mustn’t\u2019t know
\nAs her cheeks tighten
\nAs her fingers try to relax
\nIn fear she holds her throat
\nWith a rock
\nAnd smiles
\nAs he dresses
\nHis clumsy pants
\nShe laughs so loud
\nHe runs leaving his underwear
\nBehind
\nShe picks it up
\nStill laughter.
\nA wardrobe full
\nOf past experience
\nAnd tears
\nIf only one would stay
\nCould anyone ever come back
\nOr are they all married
\nTwisting
\nHer tears unfold
\nBut listeners are as rare
\nAs a unicorns horn
\nAnd who cares anyway
