Leo Walmsley – Robin Hood’s Bay

A number of possible events were being planned around Robin Hood’s Bay – ideas were centered around author Leo Walmsley and Robin Hood themes – author Julian Atterton lived in Castleton and wrote The Outlaw Robin Hood. Here are some more connections on another work in progress site of mine – Bards and Authors of North Yorkshire. http://bardsandauthors.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/robin-hood-connections-in-north.html

The Purple Onion

Peter Stockill of the Teesside Writers Workshop tried to organise the groups performance event at the Purple Onion.Peter and John Miles Longden used to meet as writers in the original Purple Onion in Bottomley Street, Middlesbrough back in the 1960’s.The new purple Onion was a different setting altogether and so the event was held at the Cornerhouse pub near the station.

Spekta

There were so many possiblities for events and involvement even though we aimed to do the festival without funding as an experiment of what was possible when people get together. Funding was always difficult and limited back then but the newly created Lottery fund was created just before the festival so we did get a small Arts for All grant in the end but the festival was more or less ready to go anyway. I think some Kind of event was going to be created around this but it’s one of them that didn’t come to fruition. It fits in with the theme of Merlin’s Cauldron though.
