She to him<br \/>\nWas a true mother,\u2014not an ogre grim<br \/>\nTo shun or to despise. In dell or grove\u2014<br \/>\nUpon the mountain\u2014in the rustic lane\u2014 5<br \/>\nBy river or by mere\u2014in cottage home\u2014<br \/>\nWherever in his musings he might roam,<br \/>\nHe found inspiration to sustain<br \/>\nHis Muse in giving to his fellow-men<br \/>\nA truer taste of all that\u2019s good and fair; 10<br \/>\nTeaching a wisdom which is all too rare,<br \/>\nAnd ever has been, in all lands.
