Thy muse doth make more pure<br \/>The heart that loves her: as in the darkest days,<br \/>For suffering Freedom, thou didst touch the chords<br \/>Of manly feeling in each British heart,<br \/>Till all the worthy wished to bear a part<br \/>In their dear land\u2019s redemption. Holy words<br \/>Of comfort for humanity did fall<br \/>From thy sweet lyre: tyrant and bigot quail\u2019d<br \/>Before thee, whilst all wise and good men hail\u2019d<br \/>Thee as a God sent poet.
