I Am Unique

I AM UNIQUE
©Trev Teasdel Coventry July 68

They tell us what to do
They tell us who to be
They chose a job for us
and we follow just like sheep.

Chorus
Gotta get out of my uniform
It’s time that I created a storm.
Gonna use my talents to the hilt
The foundations have got to be built
I am unique, I am Unique I am unique.

They thrust a gun in our hand
They put us in the local band
We learn our father’s trade
From these things I must evade.

BRIDGE
Our minds are efficient
but enthusiasm is deficient
Our worries are obtuse
For them there is no use.

Mrs Jones’s husband’s left to roam
and their only son has gone into a home
Destitution has set in
relying on her next of kin.
Such is a common state
I’ve got this need to create.

A Rolling stone never gathers any moss
Don’t be sticky like a candy floss.
Oh for versatility, if you’ve got the ability.
Then get things on the move
It’s a real groove.

….
Probably influenced by the Who in style but expressing my need to get out of the job that I was in and find something better – myself!
