IF I COULD HOLD YOUR HAND
©Trev Teasdel Coventry 1973
Night..are you here so soon?
The sun is now a moon.
A shady light brightens up our night.
Sets a tranquil mood in which to brood.
A guitar plays…A song is sung.
All our trials in the cloakroom hung.
The wind outside on the wall it beats
The salty sea of fear it sleeps.
Chorus
If I could hold your hand
If we could understand
What it takes to be a woman or a man.
In odd corners of odd day
When all our cares are swept away
And we sit and sing a song..float away
Into tranquillity.
When we reach out to a friend
With hearts that really care,
When we learn to share
The love we hold inside
Don’t let it hide
Don’t keep it all inside.
