I’m a Capitalist

I’M A CAPITALIST
©Trev Teasdel, Coventry 1974

People ask me what I am
They think I’m gentle as a lamb
but I’m a capitalist.

I’m a ruthless rip-off artist
Sly and slick as a dart is
I’m a capitalist.

Oh as sure as bees make honey
I make money
I’m a capitalist

I’ve got a calculated brain
Money’s the name of the game
I’m a capitalist.

They say I won’t go to heaven
I’ll end up in hell
But I’ve got the money
If you got some heaven to sell.
I’m a capitalist.

I don’t go much on soul
I’m all gain gain gain
I’m a capitalist

I’m a meat-eating, money-making maniac
A mean go-getting money-chondriac
I’m a capitalist.

I’m not a hairy-fairy hippy
I’m the son of tricky dicky
I’m a capitalist.

I think it’s right to say
I’m for love and for peace
I love lots of money and polish every piece
I’m a capitalist.

Oh accumulating money
I’m for money-honey
I’m a capitalist.
